Angle Grinding with Bench Grinder

I wanted to grind an angle in 1/4" square steel. Tried several ways and found that the best was to use the adjustment features on the bench grinder. I've had this blench grinder for 40 years and have never used these adjustments. Makes me wonder how many other tools I have that I have never explored the possibilities
Small Neat Brazes 3

Small Neat Brazes 3 is an addition to Small Neat Brazes 1 & 2. A couple of things that have been helpful for me and may be of interest. 1) when using standard 3/32 brazing rod and finding I need a smaller diameter rod. Annealing the bronze rod and then hammering out to a thinner rod. 2) I’ve often heard that one can use Borax Laundry detergent for a brazing flux. Bought a box and it works well ...
2020 /.Covid 19 / Sales

A recap of 2020, Covid 19 and my sales figures for the year. Because of the "Stay At Home" orders, I thought 2020 would be a very poor year. Turned out it was a very good sales year. Compared to years past, the sales were for $50.00 and under pieces. Very few larger and more expensive pieces.
Copper Update 12-30-2020
Переглядів 2,3 тис.3 роки тому
End of the year (2020) update on what I am paying for sheet copper. As presented, the price of copper on the commodities market has risen this year. This carries over to the price for finished copper sheet, copper tubing and copper wire. I’ve been fortunate to find good prices on the copper that I use at guttersupply.com. I usually buy in 2’ x 8’ sheets of 16 oz. copper. (16 oz. per square foot...
Small Neat Brazes 2

Building on the video "Small Neat Brazes", using Stay Silv and "old school" powered flux. Personally, this is not the way I usually braze, and I'm finding it helpful in some new designs that I am doing for 2021. Also discovering some bad brazing habits I need to change. Been a worthwhile endeavor for me, hope it works for you. Link to the first "Small Neat Brazes" video. ua-cam.com/video/SgMwm2...

For joining two pieces of metal together just a small amount of braze is sufficient. In my work, my brazes tend to be heavy, becoming part of the work. This video ifocuses on very small brazes.

Adding Bare Bronze Rod For Interest
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 роки тому
A primary interest is to add interest to my sculptures. In this video I am using "bare bronze rod". This is the same bare bronze rod I use for brazing. This is a hard (stiff) material that requires annealing for easier forming. Bare bronze rod is an relativity inexpensive material. I keep finding more and more ways that I can use this in my sculptures. This same rod can be used in jewelry. when...

i go through a lot copper so I am conscious of the price. Which is why I check the copper commodity prices every morning. When the commodity price goes down I may want to buy copper. When the price goes up it may be time to sell my scrap copper.
Brazing Holes

How Much Should I charge?
Переглядів 1,8 тис.3 роки тому
I get questions about how to price one’s work. There are no easy answers since there are so many variables. For me it has been a trial and error process. Sometimes I try to design a series of work based upon price points. In this video I give some ideas about how I work with prices. There are no definitive answers, but the video may give you a place to start.

I just viewed a video of your father's for the first time today. I was searching for videos on coating metal to protect it and found his video on the topic... I'm so glad I did ... I have enjoyed watching videos of his wonderful creations. So sorry to hear of his passing. I read the obituary and it mentioned he recorded original bedtime stories for his granddaughter ... Why not post the audio recordings of some of her favorite stories here in your father's memory to keep the channel going and adding fresh content. I know I would enjoy that ... and I think other followers of his might as well. RIP George 🙏

I have been doing this for quite some time in order to shape 12 AWG wire to make shine still drippers for the condenser. Had no idea what it was called. I just tried to "smith" it one day, and realised it was soft after it had cooled and didn't need to be reheated for a while. Had no idea I had rediscovered the wheel. 🤣

George and Spencer, thanks for leaving up your dad's videos. I just started metal crafting myself, and was immediately stuck by the tone (that voice!) and quality of his video on spot-welding. It's quite a legacy of knowledge of kindness, knowledge and sharing he left behind…

Don't know how I missed it, but just found this video and now I'm a bit sad.. My sincere condolences to both of you and your families... Been watching George since before he started on UA-cam and those first few teaser videos I watched sure had an impact on me and it wasn't very long before I bought my first Oxy / ACE rig and bronze brazing rods. Even rented Georges videos back in the day from the GSEG media site..(would love to get those videos again). George was super inspirational and I have to say I definitely learned a lot and for that I am thankful. Also, a big thank-you to you both for keeping the UA-cam channel going as there are many in the community (myself included) that certainly appreciate it.

Great solutions - may challenge is Cu piping which is in use was tarnished by hydrogen gas from lead-acid batteries. I’ve applied every thing from “Brasso”, to Cu cleaner - neither would remove the tarnish, reverted to 400 Wet dry sand paper. Too much work. Suggestions appreciated.

Technically I think what you're doing here is melting the copper rather than cutting it. And that is due to how thin it is. The oxidizing flame doesn't really provide any benefit here. Try this with a quarter inch of copper sometime
